GRIMSBY Town Football Club have been given the licence to operate a category 3 youth academy for the forthcoming season.
Andy McMillan, ex York city and Notts County academy, has been appointed to head the GTFC youth academy as academy manager and he will also become the youth team manager on a daily basis.
Adam Smith is our operations manager, he is responsible for ensuring the criteria associated with category 3 funding are met and prepare for an external audit at some point over the next two seasons.
The Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) is a youth development scheme initiated by the Premier League. The intention of the EPPP is to improve the quality and quantity of home grown players produced by top English clubs.
Callum Lester has been promoted to fill the newly created development phase lead coach for the 11-16 years, while Lawrence Heward will now become the foundation phase lead coach, overseeing the development of our 9-11 year old - as well as the skills centres.
This is an exciting time for our youth academy and further additions to the coaching staff will be made over the coming months, ensuring we continue to offer an academy aimed at producing the next generation of Mariners.
