Town Knocked Out Of Lincs Cup

13 July 2016

THE Mariners were knocked out of the Lincolnshire Cup after a 2-1 defeat at Stamford tonight.

All the action came in the final quarter of the tie. The home side took the lead on 80 minutes when Jordan Smith headed past Andy Warrington. Town were level soon after when Harry Clifton fired home, with the tie looking to be heading for spot kicks. But Stamford weren't done and Batchelor was on hand to head a late, late winner.

Town: Warrington, Mills, Hough, Pearson, Jones, Bolarinwa, Clifton, Venney, Disley, Wright, Browne.

Subs: Heath-Drury, Finnegan, Lawis, Sawyer, Lofts, Keeble.

The Mariners are next in action on Friday night when Premier League side Hull City are the visitors to Blundell Park. Tickets for this game are available online or from the Blundell Park ticket office.
