TOWN midfielder Craig Clay played the final minutes of England C's 2-0 International Challenge Trophy victory over Ukraine Under-20s on Tuesday afternoon, but says that it was still a fantastic experience.
Clay was in Paul Fairclough's contingency squad and received a late call up after Omar Bogle and Jon Nolan pulled out through injury.
He barely had time to pack a bag before jetting off with the squad to a snow covered Kiev on Sunday. The group had two training sessions on Monday in sub-zero temperatures, ahead of the clash with Ukraine on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking to the club's website, he said: "I only found out that I was going when I was driving home from the game on Saturday night. It's been a long couple of days but I've really enjoyed it.
"At the end of the day, it's a chance to represent your country. I had a chat with Paul Fairclough and he's a man who really makes you fell good about yourself.
Up next for England is a home game – venue to be confirmed – against Slovakia in June.
