Youths Fall At First Hurdle

2 November 2016

Scunthorpe United YTH 2-0 Grimsby Town YTH

OUR Youth team were sent crashing out of the FA Youth Cup at the first hurdle after a 2-0 defeat at Scunthorpe United tonight.

It looked ominous for Adam Smith's charges after the Iron raced into an early two goal lead. But Town fought back and Slater should have done better from inside the box, firing just over the bar. And the United keeper was called into action to turn a curling effort from Brandon Buckley around the post.

Town: Heath-Drury, McMillan, Lawis, Lawman, Hough, Keeble, Buckley, Sawyer, Burchell, Slater, Lofts.

Subs: Flowerdew, Davis, Evans, Goddard, Jamieson.

Neil Woods will take over from Adam Smith on Friday and will take charge of his first game against Lincoln City on Saturday.
