ANNOUNCEMENT: Neil Woods Appointed As Academy Manager

20 October 2016

WE are delighted to announce that Neil Woods is set to take over as the club's Academy Manager.

Neil has been brought in to oversee the restructuring of the youth system during the Elite Player Performance plan - something that he achieved with his former club Walsall.

Neil originally joined the Saddlers in 2011, and after a successful spell at the Banks's Stadium, where he helped them to achieve Youth Academy Category 2 status, he signed a new deal in 2013.
He has continued to be highly thought of in youth football and has produced a line of young talent that have come through the ranks and into the Walsall first team.

During is time as Town's Youth team manager, he guided the club to Midlands Floodlit Cup success and masterminded a Puma Youth Alliance League Cup Final victory against QPR in 2009.
The Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) is a youth development scheme initiated by the Premier League. The intention of the EPPP is to improve the quality and quantity of home grown players produced by top English clubs.

Neil will formally take up his new role with the Mariners within the next few weeks.
