Crewe Alexandra Team News

15 September 2016

ANDREW Boyce is set to miss the fixture at home vs. Crewe this weekend through illness, with Brandon Comley hoping to shake a similar issue to make his way into the team.

At his pre-match press conference at Cheapside this afternoon, manager Paul Hurst confirmed that a number of players have been feeling under the weather, after illness spread through the Town squad. When asked about who had been affected in particular, the manager said "Andrew Boyce, he started training but had to leave it. He started to feel ill last weekend but hasn't shook off what it was. Brandon Comley has felt a bit under the weather, as well as one or two others but those are the main two who are struggling". When talking about their chances of making the squad this weekend, Hurst confirmed that Andrew Boyce will not feature, whereas the decision for Comley will be left until Saturday.

When discussing new injuries, the manager confirmed that there are no new concerns and that Dan Jones & Rhys Browne have both returned to training. "He (Jones) has done a bit of extra running there but naturally he will be a bit behind, as will Rhys & Sean McAllister. They don't look too far off." Paul Hurst has also confirmed that the team are looking to arrange a fixture for those lacking game time. "We're trying to get a game arranged next week" said Hurst. "If not, we might have to look at something different with them but that will be for those lads in particular".

On Monday evening, the club completed the signing of Danny Collins until January, with the experienced defender catching the eye of his new manager. "He adds to the squad we've got, the 4th centre back that i've been searching for and he's left sided which is a bonus for us. He reminds me a bit of Ben Davies, he takes pride in his body and his job, he looks in fantastic shape and doesn't strike me as one that will take 3 or 4 weeks to get ready".

The signing of Collins has now all but completed the manager's squad for the season. "All i've done is given myself a headache when they are all fit! We're not far away but naturally things change daily, particularly on game day when you pick up one or two knocks. I'm delighted with the squad we've managed to put together."
