WE caught up with commercial manager Dave Smith who is now on Day 9 of his epic bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats.
Wednesday's journey will take him from Inverness to Laggan, covering 89 miles with 4,252 feet of climbing to cover.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, he said: "We are up in the Highlands of Scotland. It was a long ride today , we did around 85 miles. But there's some beautiful, beautiful scenery going up through the hills and round the lakes here. It's absolutely superb.
"The weather's been okay - it's been a bit overcast, but it got better as the day went on today. It's a bit humid but it's not too bad.
"Every day is challenging. There has been some big hills for the last few days. Wednesday's going to be a bit of a test, we've got around 90 miles to do.
"I had spoken to a few people who had done this challenge and it has been a little bit harder than I thought. Your legs get a bit stiffer than you think, but you get up next morning, start cycling and it tends to get easier.
"It's been tough but it has been really enjoyable.
"Some of the Tour of Britain cyclists were staying at the same hotel as us the other night - they were going south as we were going north. They wouldn't lend us any of their nice bikes though," he joked.
