Salisbury In Charge Against Crewe - Referee Watch

15 September 2016

Referee Michael Salisbury's appointment for the game against Crewe means a Father and Son duo will have taken charge at Blundell Park this season.

LANCASHIRE official Michael Salisbury will take charge of the League Two clash against Crewe Alexandra at Blundell Park on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Salisbury was promoted to the EFL at the end of last season and officiated a number of games in the National League last campaign, with the last time being a goalless draw between the Mariners and Eastleigh in April.

The referee is interestingly in the footsteps of his father Graham, who still officiates at this level himself and in charge of the 2-1 defeat to Leyton Orient at Blundell Park last month.

So far this season, he has handed out 25 yellow cards and 2 reds in five games, with Yeovil's Bevis Mugabi and Stoke U23's Lewis Banks being handed their marching orders in Salisbury's last two games.

He will be assisted by Andrew Newbold and Nigel Smith on Saturday, with Paul Thompson acting as fourth official.
