Last time . . . .

27-August 2012 Town 4-1 Mansfield
12-March-2013 Mansfield 2-0 Town

McKeown, Hatton, Miller, Pearson Shaun, Thomas, Naylor, Marshall, Disley, Devitt, Cook, Hannah, Subs: Thanoj, Colbeck, Brodie

Mansfield won promotion from the Conference as Champions whilst Town lost to Newport County in the play-offs after finishing 4th.  Mansfield were in a rich vein of form with their win against Town being their 8th straight win, a run that ended up totalling 12 straight wins!

Other results from the Conference years .... All in 2011 !!

For those of a superstitious disposition, (especially if you're from Mansfield on this occasion), the result on the exceptional date 1-1-11 was 7-2 to Grimsby.  Peter Bore scored a hat-trick.

On 19th April, Town won at Mansfield 2-0.  Charlie I'Anson scored his first goal for Town.  Can you name the remarkable match and scoreline where he scored his second and final goal?

Town lost away at Mansfield 2-1 on October 8th, and drew 0-0 in the return at Blundell Park on 6th December when Town were in the middle of a 17 match unbeaten run in League and Cup!

Last time in the League .....

Town have a 3-match winning streak of Football League games v Mansfield, two of which were on the Stags home turf!

2006-7 season - 2-1 to Town
2007-8 season - 1-0 to Town at BP, 2-1 again at Mansfield!

Town's last team to turn out in the Fottball League game for that match at Mansfield was:

Barnes, Clarke, Fenton, Atkinson, Newey, Bolland, Boshell, Hegarty, Till, North, Butler, Subs: Hunt, Bennett, Jones
Goalscorers that day were Danny Boshell and Peter Till.

Overall

Town have met Mansfield 38 times in the Football League, all the matches being in the bottom two divisions.
The 19 home games have seen Town win 10 times, with 4 draws, and the Stags winning 5.
Town's best result at home came way back in the Shankly era when a 5-1 victory was celebrated on 24th January 1953.

At Mansfield, Town have won just three times in the league, but two of those came in the last two league games (see above).  The other victory was in 1956, when the Mariners triumphed 2-0. Mansfield's best result against Town came in 1954, when, to balance things up, they were 5-1 winners!

The best ever crowd to watch the two teams was for their very first meeting on 8th September 1951, when 17,574 crowded into Blundell Park, whilst the lowest was 1,787 for a Johnson's Paint Trophy match at the end of October 2006.

The average gate at Mansfield for a Grimsby match in the football league stands at 7,097. Will that be beaten on Saturday?
