AHEAD of Saturday's visit of Yeovil Town, we catch up with boss, Russell Slade for his thoughts on the squad.
The gaffer has confirmed that he will have a large pool to select from for the squad this weekend. "I don't think we're too bad, we've come through the game okay so no problems from that view", said Slade. "We should have a fully fit squad for the weekend."
One player that will be absent from the squad at the weekend will be Gavin Gunning, who received a straight red card for violent conduct in our 2-1 defeat away at Cheltenham on Easter Monday. Slade confirms that discussions took part regards an appeal, but the club decided against it. "We had a look at it, we think it's very harsh because Wright has come in from behind him on it, but the referees position and where it was filmed, we would have a lot of difficulty overturning that".
With Gunning missing the rest of the EFL League Two season, there will be a space in the starting eleven up for grabs. "Well the good thing about it is that we have got 8 or 9 midfielders, so I've got a few choices", mentioned Slade. "I'm not too concerned but Gavin does a certain job, he protects the centre halves and he can break play up, but it's an opportunity for whoever comes in".
With a change in backroom staff, Russell Slade was asked about the atmosphere within the club after he took over. "It's good, people can see there has been a change, we have tweaked one or two things and going forward, there will be more strategy and structure. I'm looking forward to the next three games, it'll give me a chance to look at everybody, but I'm also looking forward to building something here!"
