Town goalkeeper James McKeown says that Ben Killip is going to push him all the way for the coveted number one spot.
Speaking on iFollow, he said: “I get on really, really well with him, he’s a good young goalkeeper. You can see that he’s been at a higher club. He kicks it very well off both feet, and we enjoy working together.
“We work together really well but he pushes me, you want that competition, but you want it to be a competition were you both want each other to do well.
“I think that’s one thing that the gaffer has tried to create with the whole group, competition for places, I think that you have to earn your spot.
“Ben’s not come from Norwich to sit on our bench, he wants to be playing games, and rightfully so. It’s good competition between us,” he added.
Macca partner Chloe is set to give birth to a girl in the coming weeks, but the Town stopper is hoping that the new arrival doesn’t arrive on the Saturday when the Mariners are away at Newport County (September 23rd).
He said: “I’m scared, I’m very scared. As long as there isn’t three weddings to pay for.
“It’s a month away and I’m just praying that it doesn’t come at Newport away. That’s the big one.”
