On the early stages

Speaking after the game, he said: '''I thought we started well and looked like the team in most control for the majority of that early period.

''I didn't think we worked the keeper enough, I thought our final ball was letting us down but there was some good movement that led up to some good play but that final delivery seemed to elude us in those early stages.''

On the Wycombe penalty

Speaking of the penalty that gave his side a two goal deficit to climb, he said: ''I've looked at the ball coming in the box and I'm still not sure whether Danny or his opponent has got his hand on the ball but the referee looks in a good enough position to make a judgement so I'm hoping he's got it right.

''It's disappointing from our point of view because that's just before half time and that's given them a huge advantage.''

On Collins' sending off

Speaking of the sending off, Slade said: ''As I say, it's very difficult to see, I've looked at the DVD two or three times, it's one where sometimes they're given, sometimes they're not and at this minute they're being given against us.

''We can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot and not giving ourselves an opportunity, we're always trying to win it from going behind or on the back foot because we're down to ten.''

On the winning goal

He said: ''We've got to learn to protect the goal because we had the same thing at Stevenage, we're not getting those opportunities, we have to score from 30 yards to get our goal.

''It's not the start we were all after but we have to learn harsh lessons very quickly and nobody will feel sorry for you.

''We're in a hole and we've got ourselves in that hole so we need to get ourselves out of it.''
