Crewe ref watch

The Mariners will have a quick chance to respond to the 3-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley and boss Russell Slade will be expecting a much better performance.

The Town manager may be tempted to make changes to the side from the weekend, and the likes of James Berrett, Martyn Woolford and Scott Vernon could have a chance of coming in.

It has been a difficult season for Crewe so far and they head in the game both in 20th place and on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Cambridge United.

Boss David Artell is approaching his one year anniversary in charge and saved the club from relegation but will be disappointed with the progress this campaign, with his side conceding 41 goals in 25 games this year.

The two sides last met in September when a Mitch Rose header saw Town 1-0, so they will be looking to do the double over the Alex.
