Grimsby Town boss Russell Slade has confirmed that midfielder Jamey Osborne requested to stay on-loan at Solihull Moors for an extra week or two due to personal reasons.
The 25-year-old extended his Damson Park loan to a 24-hour call-back loan for another month yesterday, but the gaffer ensured that he can return to Blundell Park as soon as possible – once his personal reasons are resolved.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, Slade said: “Jamey rang me, said he was getting closer – felt better, probably felt that he needed another game or two, so I’ve granted him that.
“We were expecting him back for the Accrington Stanley game, and so was I. He’s on a 24-hour call-back so that’s important, so we’re hoping that that will put him fully up to speed in the next week.
“I have to be understanding of that (his personal reasons) as well, and I have been. I’m trying to help him knowing that, at some stage, we’ll get the player back that we want.
“It’s a 24-hour call-back, I wouldn’t have had it any other way so even after the game on Saturday, I can call him back on Sunday, so we’re in full control of that side of it.”
And the Town boss added that he’s looking forward to having the midfielder back in the Mariners squad sooner rather than later.
“We want the player back that promised so much in some of the games, even the few games that he’s played for me.
“We should have a player eager, wanting to be part of our plans going forward.
“That injury has put him back – these games should be bringing him back to speed now, and everything else should be resolved.”
