REACTION: Bignot: It Was A Horror Show

25 February 2017

REACTION: Marcus Bignot At Morecambe

TOWN boss Marcus Bignot was left fuming after seeing his side beaten by a second minute corner routine.

Speaking to the press after the game, he said: "The players have actually been shown that corner set-up routine, so I'm hugely hugely disappointed and frustrated. Before you even get into the game you are one-nil down - it's unacceptable.

"We lost the second ball, we gave a cheap corner away, and then it was a horror show.

"I hate losing, but this game hurts me more than any one.

"They all know their roles and responsibilities. I can accept losing, but when you go off what you have been asked to do or you lack concentration, you don't switch on, that's got to be the most frustrating thing for a manager. That is your job as a manager to prepare them for situations like that.

Bignot was also disappointed that his side never really looked like getting back into the game after the early setback.

He said: ''We had periods where we were in their half but for me, if you're playing two centre forwards, you're playing a winger, you've gotta get it out wide and you've gotta get crosses into the box and with the amount of times we turned that down and wanted to play our own game, you have to question of players can take on information.

''They didn't show the know-how of how to get a result because there were endless ones they broke on us when we had a throw-in in the final third and we kept doing the same thing and the players have got to adapt to certain situations. For me, it showed where we came from. Today their decision making was at the level below and it needs to change."

Town now face two home game, starting with Colchester United on Tuesday and the Town boss will be looking for a response.

''It was always gonna be a big week for us, '' said Bignot.

''We've got two massive home games now and if we've got any aspirations, our decision making has got to be better and our intelligence has got to be better.

''We're six points off it and we certainly don't wanna be coming out of the Wycombe game any worse than we are now.''
