Luke Cornwall was one of Lennie Lawrence’s many loan signings, the young striker joined from Fulham to help Town avoid relegation at the end of the 2000/01 season. Cornwall, partnered by Steve Livingstone, inspired The Mariners to five wins in last ten games, scoring four times during his brief spell.
In the closed season Lawrence tried to lure Cornwall back to Blundell Park but a deal couldn’t be agreed between the two clubs. Despite his impact with Town, the Striker failed to make an impression at Craven Cottage and only managed a handful more appearances in the Football League (with Lincoln and Bradford) before dropping into non league and retiring in 2007.
The last that was heard of Luke he was studying to be a taxi-driver in London.
