Dixon Signs For Town

Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of defender, Paul Dixon on a two-year-deal and will wear the number 3 shirt.

The left back has appeared for The Mariners on a number of occasions during pre-season putting in a number of impressive performances.

The 30-year-old began his playing career at Dundee in 1999, where he joined the youth academy at the age of 12. Dixon made his first team debut in July 2005 during a Scottish Cup game, making his league debut later that season in January. In 3 years at the club, Dixon made over 90 league appearances for the club scoring 2 goals in the process.

At the end of his contract, Dixon made the move to his former clubs local rivals, Dundee United making over 120 appearances in 4 years. In his first season at the club, Dixon was also awarded the Fans' Young Player of the Year. 

In June 2012, Dixon signed for Championship side Huddersfield Town on a three-year contract, where he made 85 league appearances in two-and-a-half years before making the move back to Dundee United on the final day of the winter transfer window in February 2015. In two years at his former club, Dixon made 50 league appearances before his contract expired at the end of the 16-17 season.

Dixon made his full international debut for the Scotland National Team in a 0-0 draw with Serbia in 2012, where the defender was also voted Man of the Match. In total, Dixon made 3 appearances for his country. 

Paul will be part of the squad to face Wigan Athletic this afternoon, where he will be looking to pull on the Black and White stripes for the first time as an official GTFC player.
