Danny Collins Extends Town Stay

2 June 2017

We are delighted to announce that defender, Danny Collins has signed a new one-year-deal with the Mariners.

The experienced defender originally signed for Town in September 2016, becoming an integral part of the squad making 36 league appearances, scoring two goals.

Speaking to, Collins said "I'm delighted to have signed for another season, looking back at last season; I don't think we were miles away from it if you assess things as a whole. With the huge turnover of players we had and having 3 managers in a season, it is going to have an effect on both results and consistency, but to be in and around the play-offs for most of the season and to finish mid-table was a fair reflection on our season."

Collins has highlighted consistency as the main aim of next season, as he targets a push for promotion. "Going into next season, we need to work on our consistency and put a run of games together, where we go undefeated more than a couple of games, like we did last season, if we are to push on for promotion".

April saw the return of Russell Slade to the club, with his experience and knowledge of the game giving the club a major boost according to Collins. "With the Gaffer & Wilko in charge, I believe we can achieve this [promotion]. With their knowledge and experience in the game and also the additions they will bring in this summer to add to the core of last year, I think we will have a good go at it."

"Thanks for all your support last season and I look forward to seeing you all back at BP next season!”
