Key Dates Dates For Your Diaries

21 June 2017

Here's a few key dates for your diary for our second season back in the EFL.

Saturday 5th August - Chesterfield (A)

An opening-day fixture at Chesterfield's Proact Stadium awaits the Mariners. It will be Town fans first ever visit to the new 10,000 all seater stadium which opened July 2010. It is situated on the outskirts of the town at Whittington Moor.

Saturday 12th August - Coventry (H)

The first home league game sees Russell Slade's former side Coventry City visit Blundell Park.

The last time we met: Grimsby Town 0-2 Coventry City. This was a Championship fixture on March 1, 2003, as Simon Ford’s own goal and John Eustace’s penalty earnt the visitors all three points at Blundell Park.

Saturday 30th September - Lincoln City (H)

This is the one that Town fans will be looking out for. The Mariners face the Imps early in the season, with the away fixture at Sincil Bank not until March 2018.

The Imps gained promotion back to the Football League last month, ending their six-year non-League stay, after winning the National League title with 99 points – four clear of second-placed Tranmere Rovers.

The last time we met: Grimsby Town 2-0 Lincoln City. Goals from Padraig Amond and Nathan Arnold ensured that Town were triumphant over 10-man Lincoln, who had Luke Waterfall sent off on the half-hour mark, in the Lincolnshire derby in the National League on December 28, 2015.

Saturday 16th December 16th - Notts County (A)

Town fans always look forward to the short trek down the A46 for this one. 2,376 made the trip last season, witnessing a thrilling 2-2 draw at Meadow Lane.

Tuesday 26th December - Mansfield Town (H)

Steve Evans brings his side to Blundell Park for a tasty festive Sky Bet League Two clash.

There has been no less than 11 new arrivals at Field Mill during the summer as the Stags look to have a good go at getting out of League Two. The new arrivals at Mansfield are; Jimmy Spencer (Plymouth Argyle), Paul Digby (Ipswich Town), Paul Andersen (Northampton Town), Hayden White (Peterborough United), Conrad Logan (Rochdale), Zander Diamond (Northampton Town), Lee Angol (Peterborough United), Jacob Mellis (Bury), Johnny Hunt (Chester),Will Atkinson (Southend United), David Mirfin (Scunthorpe United).

Monday 1st January - Crewe Alexandra (A)

The Mariners kick off 2018 with a trip to Crewe. Chris Porter (Colchester United), Jordan Bowery (Leyton Orient) and Michael Raynes (Carlisle United) have been added to David Artell's squad during the summer.

Saturday 17th March - Lincoln City (A)

Town fans always enjoy this one. 1734 Town fans made the short journey to Sincil Bank for the last visit there in 2016

A 10-man Town side fought out a 1-1 draw after Josh Gowling had been dismissed for down Matt Rhead in the box.  Omar Bogle's 66th minute strike had cancelled out Rhead's spot kick.

Saturday 5th May - Forest Green Rovers (A)

The Mariners wrap up the 2017/18 campaign at newly promoted Forest Green Rovers. Rovers were promoted to the Football League for the very first time after their play-off final victory against Tranmere Rovers at Wembley.
