Town boss Russell Slade says that it will be a tough start for his side, but it will be one that his players will be looking forward to.

Speaking to gtfc.co.uk, he said: "We've got the two teams that have been relegated for the first two games. It's a tough start and it's a tough league.

"I'll be looking forward to the local derby games against Lincoln and Notts County.

"There's some good fixtures, some good ties, I think there will be some good gates next season too.

"It's a great first home game for us. Coventry are very well supported away from home, it will be a cracking atmosphere and they will pack the away end. They will do at least what Plymouth did," he added.

Speaking of the Mariners' opening home game in Carabao Cup against Derby County, he said: "That's a real tough game isn't it. It's a great game for the players, they can pit themselves against some of the best Championship players. "

The Town boss is today meeting with an unnamed player, hoping to persuade him to join the Mariners next season.
