Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of winger, Siriki Dembele from the Nike Academy on an initial one-year-deal.
The 20-year-old spent time with the Mariners on trial towards the end of last season. During the trial, he played the full 90 minutes in our behind closed doors fixture vs. Barnsley at Blundell Park and played an important role in securing a 3-2 victory.
Despite it being his first professional club, Town had to fight off competition from a number of clubs for Dembele's signature, with the youngster overjoyed once he had signed on the dotted line. "I still had a few clubs to go before making my decision, but once I found out I was joining this club to sign my very first professional contract it felt amazing", said Dembele.
Talking exclusively to gtfc.co.uk, Dembele gave us an insight into the type of player he is. "I try to be unpredictable as much as possible. I would say that i'm skillful, fast and can protect the ball well. I like to run at defenders and take them on, which I believe are attributes that will help the team".
During his trial period at the club, Dembele had talks with manager, Russell Slade and assistant, Paul Wilkinson in order to discuss his progress. "I got to meet them [during the trial] and they were very welcoming and took care of me. After meeting with them, they were full of positivity and helped me a lot in that period".
Siriki will now enjoy some downtime, before linking back up with the squad and management team for the beginning of pre season training on 26th June 2017.
