A Norwegian Grimsby Town fan, Jostein Jensen, is delighted because he will be able to watch his beloved Mariners on our new iFollow platform next next season.
iFollow will, for the first time in English football, enable EFL fans based outside the UK and Ireland to watch their team during the regular EFL season. With an estimated 270,000 EFL fans based outside the UK, iFollow will allow clubs to enable their supporters to follow the action wherever they are in the world.
Speaking to gtfc.co.uk, Jostein said: "After having listened to Grimsby's matches on radio the last 15 years, some might say that we are best on radio . . . but I'm really thrilled by the latest news where I, here in Norway, will get up to as much as 46 league games a season streamed on my 49 inches screen!
"If so the £110 payment a year will mean only £2.40 per match - with Grimsby!
"That's a very reasonable price considering we pay £481 a year to watch Premier League on TV over here - without Grimsby!
"It's a dream coming through! In my youth I had to wait until July when the yearly highlights videos on VHS arrived in the mail!
"Hopefully will this new offer get even more foreign fans subscribe to the service. The last ten years or so have I run a chatroom on matchdays at my Norwegian fanclub page, grimsbynorge.com.
"We have been nearly 10 people following the chat every match day, perhaps not that many you might say. But considering we only got 45 registered members, that is quite a high number listening to radio and reading text when you can see so much footie on the TV these days!"
The live streaming of matches will be available from the start of the 2017/18 season in conjunction with a brand new digital presence for clubs via official websites and apps.
