Well, what a ‘rollercoaster’ ride of a first season returning to The EFL.
Three management changes, lots of players, selling Omar Bogle, giving ‘future Man Utd star’ Dean Henderson his debut, bringing in several talented new players in January - but the most important fact was that we were supported MAGNIFICENTLY home and away by our fantastic and very loyal fans.
This season has produced the largest average gate (5,259) since we were in the Championship in 2002/03 (5,884). The average away support at Blundell Park this season was 464, as opposed to just over 100 for our last season in The National League. What a difference being back in the Football League makes!
Financially, with season tickets sales totaling 3,032, good matchday gate receipts, along with the sale of Bogle to Wigan, we have had a successful season. Bearing this in mind, the Board of Directors have agreed to make no increases in Season tickets or matchday admissions for the 2017/18 season as a special thank you for all your superb support over the last seven seasons.
After researching season ticket prices at other League Two clubs, we have found that we are a fair way below the average value of season tickets, in each category and to remain competitive, we will therefore need to increase prices by 10% relative to League 2 for in the following season 2018/2019.
As all you supporters who regularly travel away know, the average price paid for Adult tickets was around £22. We currently charge £18. So, to be on a more financially level playing field with all our League 2 opposition, we will be looking to put up season ticket and matchday prices for 2018/19.
Existing season ticket holders will be receiving their renewal invitations towards the end of the month.
Season ticket sales will commence at 9am on Monday, June 5 with full discount tickets until Saturday, July 15.
Any non-season ticket holders wishing to buy a 2017/18 Season ticket are welcome to go along to the club (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm) before June 5 to have a look at seats they have available.
