TOWN boss Russell Slade was delighted with the character his side showed in the dramatic 3-2 victory over Swindon Town on Tuesday night.
Speaking after the game, he said: ''I thought we built on Saturday's performance really where I thought we were the best side again for much of the game and for 60 minutes.
''I thought we got off to great start tonight, had two or three chances and there were two or three saves to be fair to their keeper but felt we should punish them in those situations.
''We go in front and then they manage to get two. It was a mistake for one but then the ball was right out of play so it shouldn't have even led to a free kick, so I was unhappy about that but we can't complain about the goal. It's just an individual mistake.
''For the first goal, we should've closed down and he's taken his shot, we gave the ball away in midfield anyway but it was a fantastic fight back second half.
''We showed strength, ability, togetherness and attitude to get three points off a very good side.''
On Jones and Matt coming in
''The only changes I made were to go with Sam Jones and Jamille Matt.
'I was conscious that they like to flood the midfield and Sam can also drop in that number 10 position to help out so that worked succesfully and then there was the height of Jamille.
''He won the ball an awful lot in the air and we'd like to get a few more second balls off if but he was effective all night so i'm pleased he got his goal.
''We were unfortunate on Saturday to not get something and I just thought we build on that and there was a really good attitude.
''It just shows what we can do when we apply ourselvs for any length of time on the pitch.''
On the importance of the win
''We shall see. Any victory is important but it it was important for me to get back in the fight with the two defeats we've had on the bounce.
''A third defeat would've made it very difficult and we need to stay in there till the end of the season and I think we showed that fight and spirit tonight to stay in the race.
''Even though we're just below mid table, we're only four or four points off i so we've gotta stay in there with the January window coming in as well.
''It's all about moving forward and i thought overall tonight it was a decent performance.''
