Town boss Russell Slade spoke to the awaiting press after seeing his side bag a comfortable three points at The Hive.
Goals in either half by Jamille Matt and Sam Jones sealed it for the Mariners.
Slade said: “I’m delighted that we have got back to back wins.
“We built on the game in midweek, and I think our last three performances have been much better, particularly in the final third.
“What a difference a week makes. We’ve managed to score five goals in two games, and today we could have scored more than the two. I thought we looked a very real threat in the final third.
"You always want that bit of comfort, it’s never easy away from home. You have to give the home side credit because they are battling for points.
It's Mark's (McGhee) first game at home so they are trying to put on a performance as well. From their point of view they stayed in the game, from our point of view we wanted to put them out of the game.
"What is pleasing is that we have created chances all the way through the game."
On Sam Jones goal, a goal that was created by a good pass by Zak Mills and a fine piece of skill by Siriki Dembele, Slade said: "Yes, it was a great bit of skill. Zak's made some really good choices in the second half, when to go long, when to go short and that was a longer ball that spun Dembele in. Lovely piece of close control and skill to go past his man.
"We know what Dembele can do now. He's a real threat on his day."
