Russell Slade's side won 3-2 at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night and have now only lost one of their last eight games so will be hoping for another positive performance against a struggling Morecambe side.

Dixon and Rose carrying knocks

Paul Dixon and Mitch Rose will both be assessed ahead of the game after picking up thigh and ankle injuries respectively, whilst Jamey Osborne and Sean McAllister remain out. However, everybody else should be fit to make the trip to the Shrimpers.

Morecambe will be without the experienced Kevin Ellison, who will serve the third game of a suspension following his sending off in their loss at Accrington two weeks ago. Forwards Garry Thompson and Adam McGurk have both come back from injuries that have kept them out recently, which means there should be few other worries for the Shrimpers.

Morecambe finding things difficult as of late

It has been a difficult few games for Morecambe and they go into the game on Saturday with only won win in their last six league outings.

Jim Bentley's side have struggled to find the net consistently so far this season and went down 3-0 to Port Vale at the weekend so will be looking for an instant response in front of their home faithful.

Bentley took charge in May 2011 after nine years at the club as a player and is now the third longest serving manager in the country at the age of just 41.

He has kept the Shrimpers ticking in League Two against the odds since taking over and will be looking to do just the same this campaign.

He has plenty of experience at his disposal when everyone is fully fit and although the 38-year-old Ellison will be missed at the weekend, the likes of Thompson and captain Michael Rose still have hundreds of EFL Lgames under their belt.

A win a piece last season

The two sides picked up a win each last season, with the last meeting coming when a goal from Lee Molyneux saw all three points go the way of the Shrimpers in February.

Town fans will have fond memories of the reverse fixture, as it was the club's first game back in the EFL in six years last August, where over 6,000 fans cheered the Mariners on to a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Kayden Jackson and Ben Davies.

Morecambe and Town have met 11 times over their history, with Town winning three times, the Shrimpers four times and the sides contesting five draws.

Managers in summary

Russell Slade: “There’s nobody more experienced than Jim Bentley in this league. He knows the league inside-out, he knows how to find results when he needs to, so I still think it’s an incredibly difficult place to go. He’s the Wenger of League Two for sure. They’ve lost a key player (Kevin Ellison) recently who’s got a three-game ban and, fortunately for us, he’s still unavailable for the last game. They miss him – he’s a seasoned pro, he’s a leader, and very important to Jim and his team so they’ll miss him and they're probably not quite functioning like Jim would want them to at this moment in time.”
