Town frontman Sam Jones says that he is pleased to be back in the thick of the action and believes that he and his team-mates can kick-on after a great result at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.

He said: “Obviously after Saturday, the scoreline we got at Mansfield, we felt that we needed to show what we can do and I think we did that today, and we got the three points which is the main thing.”

Talking us through his 43rd minute goal, he said: “It was a channel ball, I had a little glance, saw the keeper coming out, flicked it over his head. I can’t remember how I finished it. I think I headed it down and me and the defender have collided and it’s gone in the net.

“Good to get the goal. I think for 44 minutes we’ve dominated the game. I think we were on top, and then just that one minute before half time where we had just switched off again.”

And now Sam says that his aim is to stay in the side.

He added: “Definitely. That’s the aim. Just keep doing what I’m doing. That’s one game since I come back, so we don’t need to get ahead of ourselves and neither do I. We’ve got to keep doing that week-in-week-out. Hopefully we can turn it around - make a bad start into a good one.”
