Grimsby Town boss Michael Jolley says he’s looking forward to this Saturday’s Lincolnshire Derby as the Mariners welcome Lincoln City to Blundell Park in Sky Bet League Two (1pm).
It will be Jolley’s first taste of hosting a Lincolnshire Derby at Blundell Park, and the Town boss is excited about the occasion.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “We understand we’re playing a strong team in Lincoln, but we’re looking forward to the match, and it’s one we can go after, attack, and try play on the front foot.
“We’re looking forward to the game – we’re preparing hard to try and deliver a good performance.
“I’m really looking forward to it – it’s my first experience at Blundell Park of a Grimsby Town v Lincoln City match.
“It’s a game we can look forward to – it’s our local derby – I’m sure our supporters will be up for the match.
“And our fans have been excellent in terms of getting behind us so far, and long may that continue.
“We know what the challenge is – we think Lincoln are a good side, but we think on our day we can be a good side as well.
“And the reward for us – if we can get three points on Saturday that would be six points from our first three league games, which I think would be a decent start.”
Reece Hall-Johnson, Harry Clifton, and Akin Famewo all took part in training today following suffering knocks in recent weeks, and could be fit for Saturday.
The Town boss also said he’s still confident of bringing in more new players before the end of the loan window on August 31.
He said: “We’re not at the end of the process yet, in terms of the transfer market, so we’re still trying to bring players in.”
