Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder, Ben Pringle on season-long-loan from Sky Bet Championship side, Preston North End.
The 29-year-old left sided midfielder came through the prestigious Wallsend Boys Club, completing his scholarship with West Bromwich Albion before moving back up north to join non-league sides Newcastle Blue Star and Morpeth Town. After impressing for Ilkeston Town in 2008, Pringle made the move to Championship side, Derby County where he made a total of 23 first-team appearances for The Rams. During his period at the club, Pringle captained the Reserve side which won their respective section and picked up the club's Young Player of the Year for the 09/10 season.
In 2011, Pringle made the move to Rotherham United. During his time at the club, a number of impressive performances helped contribute to successive promotions to League One in 2012/13 automatically and via the play-offs in 2013/14, beating Leyton Orient 4-3 on penalties at Wembley Stadium. Pringle was also named in the PFA League One Team of the Year for the 2013/14 season.
After a total of 168 appearances and 22 goals for the Millers, Pringle signed for Championship side, Fulham in June 2015 going on to make 18 appearances in all competitions which also included a short term loan at Ipswich Town. At the end of the season, Pringle joined his current club, Preston North End on a three-year-deal lining up alongside current Mariners captain, John Welsh.
Pringle will not be eligible for selection for tomorrow's Sky Bet League Two fixture vs. Yeovil Town however, his first game could be on Tuesday night, as we welcome Notts County for our opening Checkatrade Trophy fixture.
