Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that the appeal submitted for the wrongful dismissal of Wes Thomas has been unsuccessful.
Thomas was dismissed in the 91st minute of our fixture on Saturday 25th August away at Newport County for serious foul play, when trying to control the ball from height and coming into contact with an opponent.
The club decided to appeal the decision on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, which was considered by Members of a Regulatory Commission this afternoon.
Despite the decision being upheld, the commission has decided that the punishment was excessive and has reduced Thomas' suspension from three games to two.
Thomas will therefore miss our next two league fixtures vs. Yeovil Town on Saturday 1st September and vs. Bury on Saturday 8th September. The striker will be available for selection for our Checkatrade fixture vs. Notts County on Tuesday 4th September.
