The contenders have been officially announced, and you can now vote for your Grimsby Town goal of the month for August!
Jordan Cook appears in the competition twice, and he is joined by Charles Vernam and Martyn Woolford for the monthly award.
Cook’s first entry (goal A) is his 25-yard strike against Macclesfield Town, as the Mariners beat the Silkmen 2-0 at The Moss Rose.
Not only did the goal open the scoring in the Sky Bet League Two clash with Mark Yates’s men, but it opened Cook’s account for the Mariners.
And the other goal (goal B) in that clash also features in the competition – Charles Vernam’s powerful 90th-minute strike to make it 2-0 and secure the win for Town.
It was Vernam’s second goal for the club, having scored in his loan spell last season, and was a big relief for the 10-man Mariners who had defended well in the second half at The Moss Rose.
The third goal (goal C) is Martyn Woolford’s superb edge-of-the-area strike in the 1-1 draw with Lincoln City at Blundell Park.
Woolford’s 33rd-minute effort opened the scoring for Town after a great start by Michael Jolley’s side in the Lincolnshire Derby, and was the midfielder’s third goal for the club.
The third and final entry (goal D) is Cook’s powerful strike against MK Dons in the 1-1 draw at Stadium MK.
Cook opened the scoring for Town on 35 minutes with his second goal for the club, with great instinct to latch onto the rebound after Dons goalkeeper Lee Nicholls had initially saved Woolford’s shot.
Have your say before voting closes on Saturday. The goal of the month will be announced at Tuesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy clash with Notts County at Blundell Park (7.45pm), and the winner will be presented with his coveted award.
