Former Town stars, Gary Childs and John McDermott shared their achievements at Tuesday’s Sporting Memories session at Blundell Park.
The pair made around 1,000 appearances between them for Town and had some great memories to share from the Alan Buckley era.
Held in conjunction with Sporting Memories Foundation, the Cleethorpes and Grimsby group was set up by Mariners Trust board member Kristine Green with support from HMT St Hugh’s Hospital and Friendship at Home, and the aim is to help people combat isolation, loneliness and the impact of dementia through conversations around sport.
Ten people attended the first meeting in January, which took place in the Mariners Trust’s Young’s Lower Bar at the club.
They have been continuing on a weekly-basis ever since. And you can get involved in a range of topics, from the Mighty Mariners to cricket, rugby, Formula One and much more.
For more information about Sporting Memories or to get involved, email Kristine Green on firstname.lastname@example.org or join the group every Tuesday from 10am until noon, in Young’s Lower Bar.
