Midfielder John Welsh has been named as the club captain ahead of the new season. Michael Jolley recently swooped to make the 34-year old his seventh summer signing with the former Hull City and Preston North End midfielder joining the club on a two year deal.
Speaking of the news, the gaffer said: “John Welsh is going to be the captain for the new season. I spoke with the staff about that, and also with the players. We think that John can be a good leader for us, but there are three or four key individuals in the dressing room – the likes of James McKeown, Danny Collins and Martyn Woolford.”
Thanks mate I will be proud and privileged to wear the armband 👍🏻 https://t.co/H3tDtddZ93

Trialists Update
Michael Jolley has confirmed that Ali Koiki and George Waring have now returned to their respective clubs after a short time with the Mariners.
Jolley said: “George, we’ve decided not to take that any further, so we wish him well.
“Ali, I haven’t had a chance to speak direct with Burnley yet, but we would certainly like to try to do something with him.
“That will be Burnley’s decision in the end.”
