A late goal gave the Owls a 4-3 victory in this opening pre season game.

Town took the lead just five minutes into the game when Mitch Rose was brought down in the penalty area, with the midfielder getting up to fire past Birch in the Owls goal.

Town’s doubled the advantage on 18 minutes when Hooper latched onto a through ball before coolly finishing past Birch.

The hosts managed to pull one back before the break as Lewis Collins fired home – via a wicked deflection off Tom Jamieson.

And the Owls were level almost straight from the kick-off in the second half, with Josh Batty getting on the end of Paul Walker’s ball across the face of goal to hammer the ball into an empty net.

But The Mariners hit back again when Waring managed to beat Birch to the ball just outside the penalty area, before neatly chipping the ball back towards an empty net.

Clee were soon level again when the ball came off Alex Whitmore and rolled into the net.

With the game heading for a draw, Collins’ low effort some how found it’s way past Town keeper Battersby to give the Owls a 4-3 victory.
