Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the appointments of Assistant Manager, Anthony Limbrick (left) and Assistant Coach, Adam Forrest (right).
New Assistant Manager, Limbrick joins the club following a spell at National League side, Woking where he joined in 2017 for his first managerial role in English football.
Previously, Limbrick worked in the Academy systems at both West Ham United and Southampton, also enjoying a spell as the Assistant Coach to the England U17 side. Speaking exclusively to gtfc.co.uk, Limbrick discussed his role at the club and his background in the sport.
"I'm very excited, it's not too long now until pre-season so i'm looking forward to getting in and working with the players, staff, gaffer and getting going", said Limbrick.
"I was originally from Australia but come over many years ago when I was a young player. When I didn't make it as a player I became a coach and have been a coach for most of my career."
"Through the Academy systems, I started at Southampton Football Club where I had 5 good seasons there working through all the age groups from under 14's all the way up to the Youth Team."
"After that, I was the England Under 17's Assistant Coach for a short period, working with some really good players and then I worked at West Ham for 2 seasons in their Academy. Most recently I was the Manager of Woking in the Vanarama National League, it was a great club with great people and I really enjoyed my time there, which included a great cup run against some big Football League clubs and I think the job puts me in a good position taking this role."
Manager, Michael Jolley has spoken to us about his new assistant and expressed his joy at securing Anthony's services.
"I am delighted to welcome Anthony Limbrick to Grimsby Town as our new Assistant Manager."
"He is someone who I have known and respected over the years as we have both developed as young coaches through the English system. Anthony brings a wealth of coaching experience with him, having worked at Southampton and West Ham amongst others. He has also been a first team manager in his own right and will understand the challenges of the role."
"Most importantly, Anthony shares my vision for Grimsby Town and will work closely alongside me to fulfil that vision. He is a hard working and energetic individual who I know will give everything to help improve our players and create a successful team. Anthony will also be moving to Grimsby so please join me in welcoming him to the club and to the area."
Anthony has also been joined by Adam Forrest in joining Grimsby Town Football Club.
Originally a track sprinter and junior international sprinter, Forrest made the move into Sports Science and strength & conditioning, earning his first role in Football at Blackburn Rovers as their lead Sports Scientist before making the move to Wigan Athletic, to lead the Academy Sports Science system eventually progressing to the first team.
Forrest also worked alongside the manager at his previous club, AFC Eskilstuna in Sweden. We sat down with Adam to discuss his appointment at the club. "I'm really pleased to get in at this club, the club and town are on a high currently so it's a really good environment to be part of, I'm really excited to get started and keep pushing this good feeling alive and see how far we can take it", said Forrest.
"A big thing is making sure that the players are prepared for whatever a manager may want. Michael wants to play in a certain way, so it's all about having the players available to meet his demands, maximising the efforts from all the players but also making sure everybody is available to pick from."
Michael Jolley has spoken about his new recruit and believes it to be a real coup for the club.
"Adam Forrest is an outstanding individual and we are very fortunate that he has joined us at Grimsby in the role of Assistant Coach."
"He has declined significantly superior financial offers to be part of what we are trying to achieve here at Town. Adam will work closely alongside Greg Howard to optimise the physical performance of our players; both Greg and Adam will report directly to me."
"Adam will also have a broader remit to support the Assistant Manager and myself in a number of other areas including coaching, analysis and player wellbeing. Adam has extensive experience in elite performance sport and has worked previously at Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers. He is very bright and positive person and brings great energy to our staff."
"I know that our players and current staff will all enjoy working with Adam - please join me in welcoming him to Town!"
You can join Anthony and Adam ahead of the 18/19 season by securing your season tickets online via our online ticket store.
