3 May 2018

First Team to hold training session and press day at Oasis Academy Wintringham

On Thursday 3rd May, the Grimsby Town Football Club first team will be holding their first team training session and press day at the facilities at club partners, Oasis Academy Wintringham.

The session will allow a select group of the school’s students the chance to see their heroes close to home, training at the fantastic facilities available at the school which are also used as the home of the GTFC Academy.

With their recent ‘Good’ education provider status awarded by Ofsted, the school received a number of free and discounted tickets for a large period of the season and we are continuing to work together in order to continue creating and enhancing our working relationship.

Ahead of the day, Director, John Fenty discussed the opportunity given to the First Team. "It is great to showcase our Youth Academy base which is located within Oasis Academy Wintringham, where the first team are training today ahead of their final game of the 17/18 season.”

“This partnership forms the bedrock of our ethos, to ensure the Club has the best chance to develop local home grown talent, within this wonderful setting following years of investment and hard work.”

“We are assured the GTFC Youth Academy is beginning to bear fruit, under the fantastic management of the Academy Manager Neil Woods.”

“Huge thanks are extended to the Oasis Academy Wintringham and the Principal, Heidi Stennett for having the vision to embrace this partnership.”

Principal of Oasis Academy Wintringham, Heidi Stennett is also excited to welcome the First Team to the facilities at the school. “We are delighted that GTFC are giving our students the opportunity to meet the first team”, said Stennett. “So many of our staff and students are such big fans, we are thrilled that they won on Saturday and will stay up next season.”

“Our partnership with the club is long-standing and it is exciting to begin a new chapter of that. Both the academy and club are exceptionally proud of our recent Ofsted ‘Good’ award and community development is a key priority for us as we continue to move forward”.
