Town boss MIchael Jolley and midfielder Mitch Rose have both been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month and Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month awards respectively.
The April nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Award are:
Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe Wanderers)
Held his nerve amid the jitters in the League Two play-off places to guide his side to automatic promotion with 10 points from five games, include the comeback win at Chesterfield which secured Wycombe’s ticket to League One.
John Coleman (Accrington Stanley)
Can he make it a hat-trick of Manager awards in successive months? Steering Stanley to promotion and the League Two title, garnering 16 points from seven games and with a 11-3 goal differential ought to help his cause.
Michael Jolley (Grimsby Town)
Taking over a side that was winless in three months and plummeting fast, Jolley trusted his instincts. Improved displays led to a vital win over Chesterfield, part of a 10-point haul from five games which ensured the Mariners’ safety.
Nathan Jones (Luton Town)
Reaped his reward for continuing to encourage his attacking side to express themselves as they collected 13 points from five unbeaten games and sealed the automatic promotion place they have occupied since the autumn.
The April nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month Award are:
Alex Revell (Stevenage) - striker
A remarkable final month of the season for the 34-year-old who scored six goals in as many games, culminating in his first hat-trick for 10 years in the win over Exeter - a header, a deft lob and a fine individual run and angled shot.
Mitch Rose (Grimsby Town) - midfielder
Assured in midfield, he converted penalties under suffocating pressure in three successive games to earn his side seven points. Not any old penalties either. Two came in the final 10 minutes against relegation rivals Chesterfield and Barnet.
Jayden Stockley (Exeter City) – striker
Stockley’s importance to Exeter’s promotion push can be gauged by him scoring his side’s opening goal in four successive matches. Formidable in the air and deceptively skilful on the ground, his final tally was five in six games.
Dan Sweeney (Barnet) - defensive midfielder
Made captain by new manager Martin Allen in late March, the 24-year-old’s influence belies his status as a non-league player until January. The stability he has brought with his tackling and covering ability has been key to Barnet’s revival.
ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 4 MAY 2018
The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.
