Michael Jolley says there are similarities between Grimsby Town and Cambridge United ahead of this Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash at Abbey Stadium (3pm).
The Mariners are level on points (15) with Joe Dunne’s side, but sit one place above the 20th-place U’s on goal difference.
And Town boss Jolley expects a tight game this weekend as the Mariners look to return to winning ways in the league.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “They’ve got a good counter-attacking threat – I think both teams carry that so that will be an area that both teams will look to exploit.
“Ourselves and Cambridge – we’ve both got the same number of points – probably two closely-matched teams.
“They had a difficult spell, as we did, but they’ve come out of that with some really good results.
“They’ve won their last two games, and got a really good point at Lincoln City before that so it’s going to be another tough encounter.
“And we give Cambridge the same respect we give every team, which is to analyse them and see where they’re strong, but also see where we think we can do well.”
Defender Harry Davis and striker Harry Cardwell remain unavailable for the game, while captain John Welsh has a minor calf issue and will undergo a late fitness test on Friday.
