Watch the interview with Brandon Buckley in full exclusively on iFollow Mariners.
Grimsby Town youth team captain Brandon Buckley says he was “really proud” to make his first-team debut on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old came on as an 86th-minute substitute as the Mariners lost 2-0 to Doncaster Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy at Keepmoat Stadium.
And the midfielder has praised his experience of the first-team setup.
Speaking exclusively on iFollow Mariners, he said: “It was a really good experience! There were a bit of nerves there, and when the manager told me to warm up, I was a bit anxious.
“But when I got on, I got lost in the game and started playing. I was really proud, and it was fun!
“I got the ball, and just tried to make things happen when I came on. We had lots of chances – we just didn’t take them, and it was just that end product.”
