Grimsby Town youth team coach Callum Lester has praised the Mariners' performance in their 2-2 draw with Rotherham United at Roundwood.

Neil Woods' side twice came from behind to share the points with the Millers as Kyle Richardson and substitute Joe Starbuck scored either side of the break for the Mariners.

And Lester said Town were unlucky not to win the game as they continued their unbeaten start in the EFL North East Youth Alliance league.

Speaking exclusively on iFollow Mariners, he said: "Performance-wise it was excellent. I thought we controlled possession for the whole of the game.

"We've had 25 shots - we've controlled it from start to finish, which we're really happy about.

"We wanted a good performance out of them - obviously you want a result as well, unfortunately that didn't come today.

"But the performance, and the passing football which we saw, we were really happy with!"

The youth team host Mansfield Town at Cheapside next Saturday (11am).
