Grimsby Town boss Michael Jolley hopes his side can improve in this Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Oldham Athletic at Blundell Park (3pm).

The Mariners host Frankie Bunn’s side this weekend, and Jolley will be hoping his men can put in a stronger performance, following last Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Bury.

Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “We go into the game in a positive frame of mind – we know we want to improve on last week’s performance, and we’re looking forward to trying to do that.

“Every game at this level is difficult. Every manager, every team, is well-organised and prepared and competitive.

“They’re a good side. I think they were the better team against Newport, and they deserved at least a draw in that game.

“They were excellent, and they’ll be looking to keep that form going into this Saturday’s game.”

The gaffer also confirmed Andrew Fox will be sidelined for around three weeks with a strain, Reece Hall-Johnson has trained this week, Harry Cardwell should return to training next week, and Paul Dixon will remain out for another week.

But he said captain John Welsh could play following the injury he picked up against Bury.
