We will be celebrating our 140th Anniversary on Thursday at the Wellington Arms in Freeman Street.
The club was formed on 20th September 1878 after a meeting held at the Wellington Arms, with the club being originally named as Grimsby Pelham.
Several attendees included members of the local Worsley Cricket Club who wanted to form a football club to occupy the empty winter evenings after the cricket season had finished.
Come and help us celebrate the birth of our great club on Thursday. There will be an open buffet in late afternoon and evening, memorabilia on show, name cards and a raffle in support of the Grimsby Town Youth system, and Michael Jolley and some of the current playing staff will be there from 6pm.
The pub opens at 10am and we are hoping that some ex players will be popping in throughout the day.
