Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley was pleased with his side’s attacking intent in their 5-2 Sky Bet League Two win over Port Vale at Blundell Park.
The Mariners put in an impressive performance, through five different goalscorers as Jordan Cook, Moses Ogbu, Matt Green, Luke Waterfall, and James Hanson all got on the scoresheet.
And Town boss Jolley believes his side could have scored even more goals in the win.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “We’re pleased. It was a tough game against a strong team – the game was in the balance for a long period of time.
“But overall I think we did enough to deserve the win, and we’re pleased with the three points.
“We created a lot of chances today. Even before we got the goal close after half time, I think Moses Ogbu had a good chance and Jordan Cook put one over the bar.
“We’ve scored five goals and it feels like we’ve possibly had some other chances as well.
“So we’re pleased with that side of it. We need to do better with our defending because we’ve conceded two goals and we’re a little bit disappointed with that.
“But overall it’s another step in the right direction, a good performance, and a good win.”
And Jolley was pleased with Jordan Cook’s performance as he scored on his first league start of the 2019-20 season.
He said: “We know what he gives us – he’s got great quality, he’s a good footballer, and we knew that he could help the team by coming in.
“I enjoyed his performance – I thought there were some really good moments from him, and we’re pleased with him.
“It was a good weight on the touch from Moses Ogbu, and a really good finish back across the goalkeeper from Jordan Cook.”
