Michael Jolley hopes Grimsby Town can produce attacking football and reward fans for their excellent support, ahead of the Sky Bet League Two 2019-

Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley hopes his side can produce plenty of attacking, on-the-front-foot performances in Sky Bet League Two 2019-20.

The Mariners get their league campaign underway against Morecambe at the Globe Arena on Saturday (3pm).

And Town boss Jolley says the Mariners won’t settle for draws, as they look to have a successful campaign in their fourth season back in the EFL.

Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “We’re excited. Pre-season is a good time for everybody in that you can really work with your team.

“I’m pleased with how we’ve built up gradually. We’ve seen some good signs and evidence of the work that we’ve been doing.

“We haven’t had a complete performance, but in all of the games we’ve seen good evidence of what we’ve been trying to achieve.

“But ultimately we’re here to compete and play the games, so we’re excited for that to begin on Saturday.

“Anyone who saw the game against Peterborough United last week could see that we want to try and be an attacking team.

“Although we didn’t score a goal last week, we gave ourselves some chances to do that.

“And we’ve got 46 chances to go and win matches, and we want to try and win every match.

“We’re not a team that wants to play for draws – we want to try and play each game on the front foot and try to win.

“And hopefully we can bring all of that together for this game on Saturday.”

And Jolley hopes his side can give the Town fans a reward - for their excellent support - this season.

“As always, we’re so grateful to our supporters. We’ve got a fantastic following – both at home, and certainly away from home.

“They always travel in great numbers, and we’re really, really hopeful that we can give them something to cheer this season.

“I think they’ve really stuck with us in my time so far, and we’re looking forward to seeing them on Saturday.”

Striker Harry Cardwell and on-loan Newcastle United left-back Liam Gibson will both miss Saturday’s league-opener through injury.
