Grimsby Town return to Blundell Park as they host Colchester United in Sky Bet League Two tonight (7.45pm).

Michael Jolley’s men fell to their first defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 to Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn at the weekend.

And the Mariners will be hoping to bounce back from that, and get another win on the board, as they face Colchester United.

John McGreal’s side are winless in the league so far, after an opening-day draw and two consecutive defeats – to Plymouth Argyle and Cambridge United.

And they will be looking to put those disappointing results behind them, and get their first win of the season, against the Mariners.

Transfer business

It’s been a busy summer at the Colchester Community Stadium, with nine players arriving and 14 leaving ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Jevani Brown signed from Cambridge United and defender Omar Sowunmi joined from Yeovil Town.

Former Town loanee Paris Cowan-Hall made the switch from Wycombe Wanderers, and Arsenal left-back Cohen Bramall also joined on a permanent deal.

But there were also a number of notable departures, with Sammie Szmodics signing for Bristol City and Frankie Kent joining Peterborough United.

Brennan Dickenson made the move to MK Dons, and Kane Vincent-Young signed for Ipswich Town this week.

One to watch

Centre-forward Luke Norris has had a good start to the 2019-20 season, scoring two goals in three league games for the U’s – including a penalty in the 2-1 home defeat to Cambridge United at the weekend.

The 26-year-old has scored 10 goals in 40 appearances for the U’s since signing from Swindon Town in 2018.

And he will be looking to add to that tally and get another goal against the Mariners tonight.

Previous starting 11

McGreal went with a 4-2-3-1 formation as they lost 2-1 at home to Cambridge last time out, despite going ahead in the game.

Dean Gerken was in goal, with a back four of Ryan Jackson, Tom Eastman, Luke Prosser, and Ryan Clampin.

Former Town loanee Brandon Comley anchored the midfield with Ben Stevenson, while Courtney Senior, Jevani Brown, and Frank Nouble played behind Luke Norris.

This game last season

Town made it four league games unbeaten when the two sides met at Blundell Park in 2018-19.

Wes Thomas’s 65th-minute goal was enough to secure all three points for the Mariners as they won 1-0.
