This Saturday's Sky Bet League Two clash with Cheltenham Town at Blundell Park is Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust's NCS Match Day (3pm).
Grimsby’s National Citizen Service (NCS) graduates will enjoy VIP treatment as they join the Mariners players on the pitch to launch NCS Match Day - a unique awareness-raising event organised by Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust.
A handful of lucky Grimsby Town fans - who all spent their school holidays meeting new people, learning new skills, and giving back to their community through the NCS programme - will be attending the game as special guests of the Club to mingle with star players, including our NCS Ambassador James McKeown.
The event, supported by Grimsby Town Football club and Sports and Education Trust will be part of a wider EFL Trust campaign that sees NCS Match Day reach EFL and Premier League clubs across the country, highlighting the positive work that young people have done in their local communities.
In 2018, NCS Match Day reached over 2 million people, with over 300 football players across the country celebrating NCS and the young people who have given back to their local communities.
NCS is a flagship government initiative that provides young people aged 16-17 the chance to take on new challenges, experience exciting activities, make long-lasting friendships and develop vital skills that will support them later in life.
Supporting young people’s transition to adulthood, the programme develops their strength of character, giving a sense of purpose, optimism and belonging.
Almost 500,000 young people have completed the NCS programme to date, giving up an incredible 12 million hours of social action projects since NCS started.
