Grimsby Town look to get their first win of 2019 as they face Lincoln City in the Lincolnshire Derby at Sincil Bank in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday (1pm).

Michael Jolley’s side are unbeaten in their previous two away league games, beating Port Vale and Exeter City at the end of December.

And the Mariners will be looking to continue their good away form against league leaders Lincoln City this weekend.

But Cowley’s side are also without a win this calendar year, with the nine-men Imps surrendering their two-goal lead to draw 2-2 away at Swindon Town last weekend.

And the Imps, who are now without Bruno Andrade and Jason Shackell for the Lincolnshire Derby, will be looking to return to winning ways against Town on Saturday.

Last five league results

Lincoln City: W, L, W, D, D

Grimsby Town: W, W, W, L, L

One to watch: John Akinde

The experienced striker is the Imps’ top goalscorer so far this season, with 11 goals in all competitions.

The 29-year-old scored four goals in five league games last month, but is without a goal in 2019 so far – having played three games for the Imps this calendar year.

And Akinde, who joined from Barnet last summer, will be hoping to make it a double against Town this season, having scored a penalty in the 1-1 draw at Blundell Park earlier in the season.

Last starting XI

Cowley went with a 4-4-2 formation against Swindon Town last weekend, with Josh Vickers in goal, and a back four of Neal Eardley, Jason Shackell, Michael Bostwick, and Harry Toffolo.

The Imps’ midfield consisted of Harry Anderson, Lee Frecklington, Michael O’Connor, and Bruno Andrade, with Shay McCartan and John Akinde up front.

Last time: Grimsby Town 1-1 Lincoln City

The Mariners put in a convincing attacking performance as they were frustratingly held to a 1-1 draw with the Imps back in August.

Martyn Woolford put Town ahead with a fantastic first-half strike before John Akinde equalised from the penalty spot on 71 minutes.

We will be showing the SOLD OUT Lincolnshire Derby LIVE in McMenemy’s at Blundell Park on Saturday (1pm)!
