Our Grimsby Town Women’s team played their first-ever game at the weekend when they faced Barton United Women.
Town manager, Dale Houlston described their opener. He said: “It was a useful first pre-season friendly with lots of positives for our women’s team. We experimented with a couple of formations.
“Thank you Barton United Ladies and the best of luck for the season.”
The Town keepers.
And congratulations to Sophie Bartup on becoming the first-ever Grimsby Town Women's FC goal scorer. It was an all-round history-making day for the player/coach too, as she also completed the first-ever hat-trick for the new team and was awarded the captain’s armband for the new season.
The manager added: "It was a perfect demonstration of leading through setting examples. As first outings go, there were lots of encouraging signs, and to be fair the group has some great leaders throughout"
