Inside Tomorrow’s Programme - Cambridge United

1 March 2019

Our historic matchday programme will be back on sale tomorrow for the visit of Cambridge United.

The Mariner, which was recently awarded ‘Runners-up’ in the 2018/19 programme of the season competition by The Northern Programme Club, is jam packed with exclusive articles, in-depth interviews and eye-catching illustrations by the Graphic Bomb.

Here’s just a taste of what to expect to find inside tomorrow’s programme:

  • Reece Hall-Johnson talks about playing at centre back, his Mariners debut 13 months ago and his short spell with The U’s in the feature interview.

  • Town boss Michael Jolley reflects on 12 months in the Blundell Park dugout in his notes.

  • Thomas Sargent tells the amazing story of Elemér Berkessy, the first foreign coach to manage in the Football League and how the Hungarian brought his own unique style of play to Blundell Park - ‘Mozegekony’.

  • We get to know Town’s topscorer Wes Thomas a little better in ‘In Focus’

  • Next to be inducted to The Mariners’ Hall of Fame is the first (and only) Grimsby Town player to play at a World Cup.

  • There’s an in-depth look at our opponents, their manager, squad and history between the two clubs.

  • Both Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust and The Mariners Trust provide updates on their excellent community work.

  • And there’s stats, archive photos, classic Jim Connor cartoons, On This Day facts and an illustrated centrefold of James McKeown in celebration of his 400th appearance for the club last weekend at Swindon.

All of this great content, and more besides, is in tomorrow’s matchday programme. Make sure you pick up your copy for £3 around the ground! We will also soon be selling a limited number of signed prints of the McKeown illustration from the programme over on our official eBay store, so be sure to keep an eye out!
