Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley hopes to see the Mariners return to their “structure” in Tuesday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park (7.45pm).
The Mariners look to get their first win in four league games on Tuesday as they take on Micky Mellon’s side, who sit in fifth-place in the league.
And Jolley hopes his men execute their structure better than they did in the 2-1 defeat to Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium last Saturday.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “There’s a number of aspects to the game that we must improve on.
“As a manager, you’re always trying to get the balance right between giving the players the freedom to make their own decisions, and telling them what to do.
“But if they stray too far from the structure and the framework that you’ve given them, you’ve got to try and bring them back towards that structure.
“On Saturday we didn’t play the game in a manner that we were pleased with, so we need to get back to that on Tuesday.
“We’ve spoken with the players at some considerable length about Saturday’s game, and we’ve also done some work on the training field.
“So we’ve tried to use the time that we have got as productively as possible.”
John Welsh trained on Monday, while Elliott Whitehouse continues his ACL injury rehabilitation.
